No two seeds are the same. Even if they are from the same seed pack, and have the same name, they are DIFFERENT plants. That is why I sold clones. A clone is an exact copy of the plant that it was taken from, where seeds are sharing genetics, they aren't identical.
What does this mean on a real world basis for you and me?
We CANNOT TRUST CLONES/GENETICS to be what we want. I've seen trays of male plants sold as females(sensi star, deadhead), indicas as sativas, and more PM/thrips/root aphids than I've ever seen in any commercial garden I service. I found that the only way to have consistent results is to test each round of genetics, or to clone things yourself.
A lot of "fly by night" companies have sprouted selling clones, but the "cloners" don't have enough experience with flowers or desirable phenotypes to even be making an educated decision on which phenotype to keep. So you get people who buy seeds of a formerly "clone only" non stabilized hybrid, and then sell clones of their seeds as the ORIGINAL STRAIN (IE, TAHOE OG, SOUR DIESEL, BUBBA KUSH, FIRE OG, DEADHEAD OG, pretty much anything from unverified sources) These seeds exhibit phenotype varience, they aren't consistent.
So somebody buys the seeds, pops 10, get 5 ladies, sees that seed #1 is a bigger yeild, chops the rest, sells clones of seed #1 touting it as the "real thing". 90% of the time there is nothing to account for the outcome of the clones, just clones, or maybe some buds, but you could get buds anywhere.
The problems don't just arise from "new cloners", experienced "cloners" do the same thing. I've seen respected trusted nurseries bring in absolute garbage that cost thousands of people thousands of dollars, due to wasted time, electricity (anyone remember "fucking incredible"(VISC, DHN) hahahah what a joke).
I mean if the cloners are selling males, how can you trust that they even know if a female is any good? I only get clones from STONERS. People so vested in this industry that they can't afford to pass of crap. REAL POT HEADS. Clones are everywhere, REAL GENETICS ARE RARE.
